Creating Connections: Fall S’mores and Stories for Families

This year we are fully diving into the season. Last year was hard and distanced for so many reasons I’ve already talked about here. When we re-did some of our goals during this year, working through so much, one of the things we keep coming back to is having our doors open. So fall hit and while we do normally have an array of people here across any given week we are diving into some new territory this month.

While I was traveling to Chattanooga a couple weeks ago I had a thought for a new, simple community night during the season! Enter: Spooky Stories and Smores night. Weekly, we’ve come together with our neighbors and friends close-by and enjoy treats, fun, and *kid friendly* spooky stories together. It’s one way to casually bring people together, to help them feel seen, to create connection, to keep the commitment minimal; come on the weeks you want, just bring yourself, keep it short and simple.

Embarking on something new is a little nerve wracking, but if you don’t try you never know. You never know when a friendship will be formed, you never know who might be coming from a really hard day and this provides a bright spot, you never know how much your kiddo might need to just enjoy treats with their friends after a long day.

So let’s try something new together –

How are we pulling it together? Here’s whatcha need:

We are two gatherings in and it’s been a fun place for kids and even more fun for the adults. We did decide to grab some adult bevy’s aka Spindrift to have an option while the kids roasted their marshmallows and the grown-ups chatted.

The conversations that have come out of these nights so far have been so refreshing and uplifting across the board. People truly do crave the simple places where they can just be in community. Life is already heavy enough.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be to the nines you just have to invite people in.
